Weekly Events for Dec. 9-13


Starting on Monday, December 9th, the music department will be selling band grams. The band grams will include a musical performance and a festive  rubber ducky for the recipient. Band grams are $3.00 and all proceeds will go towards new uniforms for band and orchestra students. Grams can be purchased in the office, in the cafeteria during the 6-8 lunch, or from Mrs. Sommers 


We will hold our annual Santa Shop beginning Tuesday the 17th.  If you are interested in providing a bit of support, please contact our school office at 275-7020.  We always need people to help little ones pick out gifts or to help wrap etc. 

 

In Sports News:

Girls’ Basketball will travel to Pacheco on Tuesday and to W.Cottonwood on Wednesday. Games begin at 4 for 6th grade, 5 for 7th grade and 6 for 8th grade. 

Our 8th grade girls’ team may make the playoffs!  Go RAMS!

8th grade boys’ basketball tryouts will begin on Monday at 3:00-4:30 and again on Friday at 2:30-4:00

Tryouts for 6th and 7th grade boys’ basketball will be on Tuesday and Wednesday with 6th grade from 2:30-4:00 and 7th grade from 4:00-5:30.  


K-8 Wrestling is starting! @ CVHS Wrestling room adjacent to the football field on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 6:00-7:15 p.m. If you have any questions you may email gwusdwrestling@gmail.com

We have a Parent Club Mtg on Monday at 2:45 in room 60.

 

Please join us on Thursday evening, beginning at 5:30, in the cafeteria for our annual K-3 Literacy Night.  We have a variety of activities for students to enjoy! A free book will be given to each K-3 student, complements of our local Shasta Dam Kiwanis.

 

8th grade parents please talk to your 8th grade student about the Promotion Policy Contract that was sent home a week ago to have signed and returned.  Please sign and return the form ASAP.

 

In an effort to reduce and to be more efficient, you will find our October Fridge News on our website at sls.gwusd.org.  Also, if you are a parent of a 4th through 8th grade student, you may find their California Assessment results by logging into your parent portal on AERIES.  Once logged in, choose the Test Scores drop down. If you have questions or need assistance in accessing this information, please contact our office at 275-7020.

 

It is WALK TO SCHOOL on Wednesdays for the entire month of October.  If you walk to school, make sure that you stop in the front office to get a ticket to enter into our end of the year drawing for a bike. 

 

We are still selling Riffle Raffle Tickets.   Please help by selling at least one ticket. Students that sell 10 or more tickets will be invited to a nacho party.  The proceeds from this fundraiser are used to support field trips and various activities on campus. We have had the top seller in the county for seven years running.  Keep it going! Sell those tickets!

 

In Sports News:

-On Monday, Soccer and Volleyball will travel to Anderson and to Vista on Wednesday.

Volleyball B team and Soccer begins at 4pm

Volleyball A team will begin at 5pm

We will have an additional Soccer game this week to close out the season against Anderson at SLS on Thursday.  This is the make up game that was cancelled due to lightning. The game will begin at 4pm

4-8 Cross Country has a finals meet at Shasta College on Thursday beginning at 4.

K-3 Cross Country has their final meet at Grand Oaks on Friday beginning at 4.  

Stay tuned for try out information for girls’ basketball!
