This is Shasta Lake School with the Weekly Events for October 14-18


8th grade students remember to sell at least 5 Riffle Raffle tickets to get a sundae.  


Orange UNICEF boxes have gone out to the classrooms. Builder's Club wants to encourage these boxes to be filled with spare change this month to raise money for children in less fortunate countries to have essential health items.


It’s THINK PINK on Thursday.  Support Breast Cancer Awareness and where PINK to school.  


An Opt Out notice was sent home today with 6-8th grade students regarding bus evacuations.  Please ask your student for their note and review the letter.  


If you are a parent of a 4th through 8th grade student, you may find their California Assessment results by logging into your parent portal on AERIES.  Once logged in, choose the Test Scores drop down. If you have questions or need assistance in accessing this information, please contact our office at 275-7020.


It is WALK TO SCHOOL on Wednesdays for the entire month of October.  Meet at the park, just up the street from the school on Vallecito, at 7:00 and walk to school beginning at 7:15.  If you walk to school, you will get a ticket to enter into our end of the year drawing for a bike. 


We are still selling Riffle Raffle Tickets.   Please help by selling at least one ticket. Students that sell 10 or more tickets will be invited to a nacho party.  The proceeds from this fundraiser are used to support field trips and various activities on campus.


In Sports News:

-Volleyball and Soccer team awards party is on Monday at 1:30.  A $3 donation is asked to contribute towards pizza and soda. Remember to bring your clean uniform.

-K-3 cross country is having their awards party on Tuesday, October, 15 from 2:30-3:30. Please bring back your jerseys.

-Girls’ Basketball tryouts start on Tuesday at 2:30 and ending at 4:00. On Wednesday, 6th & 7th grade will continue with tryouts from 2:30-3:30.  On Thursday, 8th gd only will have their second day of tryouts from 2:30-4:00.

We have a Parent Club Mtg on Monday at 2:45 in room 60.

 

Please join us on Thursday evening, beginning at 5:30, in the cafeteria for our annual K-3 Literacy Night.  We have a variety of activities for students to enjoy! A free book will be given to each K-3 student, complements of our local Shasta Dam Kiwanis.

 

8th grade parents please talk to your 8th grade student about the Promotion Policy Contract that was sent home a week ago to have signed and returned.  Please sign and return the form ASAP.

 

In an effort to reduce and to be more efficient, you will find our October Fridge News on our website at sls.gwusd.org.  Also, if you are a parent of a 4th through 8th grade student, you may find their California Assessment results by logging into your parent portal on AERIES.  Once logged in, choose the Test Scores drop down. Volleyball B team and Soccer begins at 4pm

Volleyball A team will begin at 5pm

We will have an additional Soccer game this week to close out the season against Anderson at SLS on Thursday.  This is the make up game that was cancelled due to lightning. The game will begin at 4pm

4-8 Cross Country has a finals meet at Shasta College on Thursday beginning at 4.

K-3 Cross Country has their final meet at Grand Oaks on Friday beginning at 4.  

Stay tuned for try out information for girls’ basketball!
